The regional director of the ICC-North East, Ishantor Sobhapandit, on Tuesday urged the young entrepreneurs of Northeast to set up MSMEs in the region.

Sobhapandit made the appeal to the entrepreneurs at the Banking & MSME Summit-2020 organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sobhapandit stated: “Northeast is in a geographically advantageous position to start up numerous industries with innovative skills.”

SS Meenakshi Sundaram, commissioner & secretary, the government of Assam shared: “Government is focusing on skill development in order to promote emerging entrepreneurs.”

While talking about the various schemes & policies of the government at the Banking & MSME Summit, Sundaram shared that the MSMEs should avail of these facilities from the government for their business expansion.

He talked about the Assam government’s future plan of promoting the sector and various potentials of exports to countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Thailand.

Sundaram also shared that as a follow-up of the ‘India-Bangladesh Stakeholders Meet’ held at Guwahati in October 2019, a team will visit Bangladesh shortly for conducting subsequent actions.

S Sasikumar, additional DGFT, Guwahati, talked about ‘focusing on developing sustainable models in Industry’.

He shared his views on the ‘scopes for export for developing the region as a whole’, said an ICC press statement.

Innocent Soren, general manager-FED, Reserve Bank of India, while sharing his views on ‘facilitating external trade’ said: “RBI is focusing on customer service to provide extended support to bank customers”.

A Bipin Menon, additional DGFT, department of commerce, ministry of commerce and industry, shared various aspects of foreign trade and scopes for export from Northeast India to the neighbouring countries.
