By virtue of it being the second largest employment generating sector in India after agriculture, the MSME sector has emerged as a powerful growth engine.

MSME Additional Secretary and OSIC MD Prasanna Kumar Jena addressing the 6th edition of MSME Summit here on Wednesday, said, “The MSME sector is struggling.” The event was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in collaboration with the State MSME Department.

New Delhi, July 31 (KNN) As Government is considering to replace Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) with a new duty refund scheme called Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL), GEMA, which is north India's biggest apparel association has sent a representation to the Government appealing not to discontinue MEIS.

The textile industry has voiced alarm over the consistent fall in cotton yarn exports in the last three months due to sharp decline in demand in importing countries such as China, Bangladesh and South Korea, besides duty-free access given by China to competing Pakistan.
