The regional office of the textile commissioner, Navi Mumbai in association with Mumbai Textile Merchants’ Mahajan is organizing Buyer-Seller Meet (B2B ) – Fabric, Garments & Madeups exhibition. This B2B event which will provide an opportunity to powerloom weavers for marketing their products at regional and cluster level and for promotion of powerloom specific or fibre specific or any other products of the powerloom sector in that area.

New Delhi: The finance ministry is considering introducing more incentives for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that comply with the requirements of the new goods and services tax (GST) regime, including access to loans at discounted rates, in an attempt to reward early adopters and encourage others to comply.

MUMBAI: Research and development centres in India, mainly of pharmaceutical, biotech and manufacturing companies, have moved court saying the government has reneged on a tax sop promise by removing exemption on locally sourced raw materials under GST. 

Suresh Prabhu is confident of domestic investment picking up soon and that global interest in India’s investment story is unprecedented. He tells ET an interview that the govt is fixing regulatory challenges but issues on taxation remain. Edited excerpts: 

Cotton Association of India, trade body estimates cotton production of 375 lakh bales of 170 kg each in 2016-17, up by 11 percent over the previous year. Despite higher production, the current cotton prices are ruling lower than previous year but they are still above the minimum support price (MSP) and expect prices to remain above MSP till December.
