A flourishing textile sector, export-oriented, value-added, and globally competitive, would benefit all stakeholders and the general economy. But the conflicts that occupy throughout the value chain contribute as much to its struggles as do the vociferously expressed issues of labour costs and energy shortfall.

The Telangana government is setting up an apparel value chain system at the upcoming apparel park in Sircilla district at an estimated investment of Rs 100 crore in collaboration with apparel manufacturer Kay ventures. 

State Bank of India (SBI) reduced charges for non-maintenance of average monthly balance (AMB) on savings accounts by up to 75 per cent. This move is aimed at benefiting 25 crore customers, India's largest bank, said in an official statement. The charges for non-maintenance of AMB for customers in metro and urban centres have been reduced from a maximum of Rs. 50 per month plus goods and services tax (GST), to Rs. 15 per month plus GST, added the public sector lender.

The Turkish Ministry of Economy has announced the list of the procurement committee supports for the year of 2018. The ITM 2018 Exhibition, which will be organized between April 14-17 and in which the heart of the textile industry will beat, is included on the list.

The 15th Dhaka Int’l Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG), the largest-ever trade fair of its kind in Bangladesh, run from February 8-11 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). The grand event is jointly organized by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service Co., Ltd.

The Albstadt-based circular knitting machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie has generated sales of around €105 million in 2017 – on par with the previous year. The family-owned company also sold roughly the same number of machines as in 2016. The reason for the result, which fell short of the company‘s expectations, was a complex in-house ERP-system changeover.
