The Tharang exhibition at BTH is fast attracting the chic and trendy crowd in the city. On the stalls are saris, kurtis, salwar materials, girls’ dresses, jewellery, bedspreads, kitchenware and more.
The saris and salwars in silk and cotton are available in a wide price range and there are quite a few fresh designs. Cotton collections has a range of affordable salwar materials and kurtas. The tie and dye salwar material with embroidery work on them is something new this time. The designer kurtis from Mridula, the designer herself, stand apart for their fresh colour combinations. The applique worked salwar and dupatta are sure to look stylish if teamed with a single coloured kurta.
Kidsclub, Kakkanad, has come up with an elegant and cute collection of girls dresses, each of which has been designed by Jeena Solgy. Made of durable soft cotton and silks, the party dresses for girls up to nine years come in all shapes, styles and colours, with detachable satin sashes and small flowers embroidered in the front.
Other attractions at the exhibition are embroidered and cutworked handkerchiefs and night dresses, table mats and napkin sets in floral designs and cutworked bedspreads and cushion covers from Homescapes, Kottayam. These come in soft and stylish colours like pale brown and can be teamed up with matching accessories. The scrabble bedspread, which looks like an enormous scrabble board, is king size and will be loved by kids.
One of the new items this time at the Maria Sarah collections is the kota sari with chungdi designs.
The ornate temple jewellery neck pieces come in some new designs though they stay rooted to the traditional style. Watch out for the handful of little silk dolls clothes at this stall; they are a good buy for girls who love to dress up their dolls.
