President's Message
K. M. Subramanian
I am very happy to inform our members that with a lot of efforts by our Honorary Chairman Padmashri. Dr. A. Sakthivel and after a thorough due diligence, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has made an additional allotment of 1,000 Candidates to be trained by our Association as an Implementing Partner (IP) of ‘SAMARTH SCHEME’.
SAMARTH (Scheme For Capacity Building In Textile Sector) is a flagship skill development scheme approved by the Ministry. Realising that the industry is facing shortage of skilled workers which would provide many opportunities for unemployed youth in the country who are trained in the sector and to address the issue, Central government of India launched Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector (SCBTS) called SAMARTH Scheme. The objectives of the scheme were to provide demand-driven, placement-oriented skilling programme to incentivize the efforts of the industry in creating jobs in the organized textile and related sectors to promote skilling and skill up-gradation in the traditional sectors through respective sectoral divisions/organizations of Ministry of Textiles and to provide livelihood to all sections of the society across the country. It invited the participation of Textiles Industry/Associations registered under Central or State Government/Chambers of Commerce of Central or State Government. TIRUPPUR EXPORTERS’ ASSOCIATION (TEA) was chosen as one of the 58 Implementing Partners in Tamil Nadu after the Ministry was fully convinced on our bona fides and capabilities in imparting the training to the unskilled youths of the country.
Earlier, the Ministry of Textiles had allotted a Main allotment of 3,771 Candidates and an Additional Allotment of 4,730 Candidates to our Association. In the past eighteen months, our Association had taken the initiative and shown excellent results in the training programme by completing the training for 8,100 Candidates of the total allotment of 8,501 Candidates. I am really pleased to note that our Association has been instrumental in getting more than 85% of the trained candidates being successfully placed with gainful employment. I am really proud to inform you that our Association has trained 8,100 Candidates while 25 other Implementing Partners of Tiruppur District put together have trained only 3,840 Candidates.
Now, the additional allotment of 1,000 Candidates has been given by the Ministry after scrutinising all papers submitted by us and being fully satisfied that our Association would be able to complete the training of the additional candidates within the deadline of the scheme.
I sincerely thank the Ministry of Textiles for the faith reposed on our Association and our Honorary Chairman for his efforts in getting this additional allotment.
