Hyderabad-based home furnishing fabric manufacturer Vijay Textiles has launched a ‘Furnishing on Wheels’ initiative to address customised home fabric requirements of individuals by delivering products at their doorsteps through a vehicle with a sales representative, a tailor and a technician. The company claims it to be a first of its kind in the country. 

India’s Central Silk Board (CSB) has sought proposals for three years from the state governments under the newly-formed ‘Central Sector Schemes (CCS) for Development of Silk Industry’, CSB chairman KM Hanumantharayappa told media persons in Bhubaneswar recently. Odisha will get Rs 6.3 crore under CSS for development of sericulture during 2017-18, he said.

The Indian Texpreneurs Federation (ITF) has appealed to the commerce ministry to include textile products while negotiating expansion of its preferential trade agreement (PTA) with the MERCOSUR trading bloc in Latin America comprising Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay and discuss ways to reduce duties on textile products in this region.
